50 Years of Hope, Thanks to You

For five decades, we have walked alongside our community — providing safety, support, and pathways toward healing. This incredible journey has been made possible thanks to the vision of our founding mothers, the dedication of our staff, and the unwavering support of our community.

This year, we had the profound honor of reconnecting with one of our founding mothers, Cynthia Allen. As a survivor herself, Cynthia understood firsthand the lack of resources faced by individuals experiencing violence. Determined to create the kind of support she once needed, she took action. Cynthia helped establish a hotline for survivors of sexual violence, organized volunteers to provide advocacy and support in hospital settings, and played a pivotal role in creating a crisis center for individuals impacted by domestic violence — what we now proudly know as Mutual Ground.

What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a support network serving individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, and substance use. Over the years, Mutual Ground has expanded its services to meet the evolving needs of our community, all while holding the mission set by our founders.

We are deeply grateful to our founding mothers for their courage to build something from the ground up. To our dedicated staff and volunteers, who continue our founder’s legacy through compassion and care each day. And to our supporters and partners, whose generosity and belief in our work sustain us - we could not do this without you.

Fifty years later, Mutual Ground stands as a testament to what is possible when a community comes together, and when hope is met with action. Here’s to the next 50 years of empowering individuals, strengthening families, and creating a safer, more compassionate community - together.
