Adult Group Offerings

Mutual Ground offers a variety of adult group counseling sessions designed to support anyone in our community who has been impacted by domestic or sexual violence. These groups provide a safe, supportive space to heal, connect, and grow alongside others with shared experiences.

Brave Hearts

Sexual Violence Support Group. Here you will discover that you’re not alone and can move forward, rewriting your story together.

  • Join our group for support in overcoming trauma, understanding your self-importance, and building self-esteem and assertiveness.

  • Date: Mondays
    Time: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
    Location: Main Campus in Aurora

Dance and Shine

Discover the healing power of dance!

  • Limited Child Care available

  • Date: Second Wednesday of each Month
    Time: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
    Location: In-Person at the Main Campus

Empowered Co-Parenting

Are you co-parenting with someone who was emotionally, physically, or sexually abusive? This group offers a supportive space to process your experience, develop protective strategies, and reclaim your voice as a parent.

  • A 12-week trauma-informed support group for survivors of intimate partner violence navigating co-parenting.

    • 90-minutes blended for in-person or virtual attendance

    • 4-10 participants per group

    • Facilitator: DV/SA Therapist or Counselor

    • Eligibility: Must be a survivor and a client with Mutual Ground

  • Date: Mondays
    Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
    Location: Virtual or In-Person in Batavia Office

    • Boundary Setting - Setting healthy boundaries for yourself, your children, and abuser.

    • Communcation and Decision-Making - Co-parenting apps, reducing conflictual communication, assertive communication.

    • Managing Triggers & Anxiety - Keeping calm in the storm. The importance of co-regulation with children.

    • Reclaiming Identity & Self-Worth - Following your personal values and parenting values.

    • Developing Supports - Finding your village.

    • It’s Your Future! - Rebuilding a life worth living and being true to yourself.

Expressive Healing

Discover the power of art as a tool for healing and self-expressions! Join our supportive group for adults, where we’ll work with various art mediums and techniques to explore emotions, reduce stress, and foster creativity. Absolutely NO experience necessary, just a willingness to explore and create!

Family & Friends Support Group

A support group for freinds and family of individuals who have been impacted by domestic violence.

  • Topics Include:

    ~ How to deal with strong emotions like guilt, anger or grief from losing a loved one to DV.
    ~ Learn ways to support a loved one in a DV Relationship.
    ~ Get answers to the question "Why don't they just leave?"
    ~ Learn the Myths and Facts of DV.
    ~ Learn how to safety plan with someone who is in a DV relationship.
    ~ Learn how children who witness DV are impacted.

Unraveling Complex Trauma

This group will help participants gain a better understanding of the complexities of their trauma and work towards forming healthy relationships.

  • This 14 week group will help you:

    • Better understand the complexities of your trauma

    • Learn DBT skills

    • Build skills to balance your emotions

    • Work towards forming and maintaining healthy relationships

    • Have meaningful dialog with other individuals

Wellness Wednesdays

Wellness Wednesdays is a recurring, skills-based group series focused on building emotional wellness, confidence, and practical life skills. Each month highlights a different topic, such as journaling, mindfulness, narrative therapy, confidence-building, creative expression, health, social skills, or guided book discussion, allowing participants to explore a variety of tools for emotional regulation and self-growth.

  • This group provides:

    • A safe, supportive space for learning, reflection, and connection

    • Practical coping strategies tailored to each monthly theme

    • Psychoeducation grounded in emotional wellness, trauma-informed care, and self-awareness

    • Opportunities to practice and apply skills between sessions

    A core goal of Wellness Wednesdays is to support participants in building a stronger sense of agency and confidence, helping them feel empowered in how they navigate emotions, relationships, and daily life.

  • Date: Every Wednesday

    Participants are welcome to join for one month or continue attending as new topics are introduced.
