The Community Engagement Advocate is responsible for building relationships with law enforcement and the community through education and outreach about domestic and sexual violence in southern Kane and all of Kendall counties. The Community Engagement Advocate is responsible for promoting MGI services throughout the area and maintaining strategic partnerships with community stakeholders that promote safety and access to justice for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Additionally, this position will provide administrative and organizational support in a wide range of tasks necessary to train and maintain a robust volunteer advocacy team. The substance use prevention services intern will co-teach a classroom curriculum, Too Good for Drugs, for middle school students. The intern will also assist with communication campaigns at local high schools and work with youth advisory committees within our service area. Interns may also attend community coalition meetings, representing Mutual Ground.

The SUD Clinical intern will be able to observe and co-facilitate groups, individual sessions, family sessions, and assessments; with the ultimate goal of being able to lead these services and carry a small caseload of 1 to 6 clients on their own. They will be able to utilize our electronic health record, write reports, work with referral sources, participate in case management, build crisis intervention skills, and participate in Clinical staffings. They will also gain understanding of ASAM criteria, SUPR 2060 rules, and diagnosing substance use disorders. The intern works onsite at the Gale Street campus, and the amount of hours worked per week and length of internship are based on what is required per their school.

Support the Advancement department by helping with individual/group volunteers, marketing and special events.
