Miss Fannie’s Yard Sale
Miss Fannie
Miss Fannie has been a dedicated volunteer at Mutual Ground since 1999, and her impact over the years has been nothing short of extraordinary. When Miss Fannie first arrived to volunteer, the donation room—now named Miss Fannie’s Room in her honor—was overflowing with items, to the point where it was nearly impossible to walk through. Since then, thanks to her commitment, she has helped maintain Mutual Ground’s clothing closet and sort and organize the donations that come through the door.
As Miss Fannie continued volunteering at Mutual Ground, she came up with a creative solution to help manage the overflow of donated items—start a yard sale to benefit Mutual Ground! And just like that, Miss Fannie’s Yard Sale was born. Every summer, this beloved event takes place at Mutual Ground’s Oak Avenue campus, offering the community a chance to shop for a good cause. The funds raised through Miss Fannie’s Yard Sale play a vital role in helping Mutual Ground continue to provide essential services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, and substance use.
Shoppers can browse a wide selection of items, including clothing, furniture, appliances, shoes, toys, books, and household goods—all generously donated. Many community members bring items left over from their own garage sales, while others contribute throughout the year. As the Yard Sale approaches, we sort through our donations to identify what we have in excess and decide what to include in the sale.
To Miss Fannie and every single person who has donated, shopped, volunteered, or spread the word—thank you. Your efforts create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the day of the sale.
And if you haven’t yet experienced the magic of Miss Fannie’s Yard Sale, we hope to see you this year on July 11–12!
