Girls Just Want to Have Fun Golf Outing

For nine years, the Girls Just Want to Have Fun Golf Outing has brought women together for a day filled with golf, laughter, and camaraderie—all in support of Mutual Ground. The idea was born when Debbie, Jane, and Joeanne, who had recently taken up golfing, attended a golf outing themselves. Inspired by the experience, they gathered to plan an event of their own and chose Mutual Ground as the beneficiary, due to the belief that everyone deserves to live free from violence.

While Debbie, Jane, and Joeanne lead the planning, their families play a vital role in bringing the event to life. From baking cookies and preparing appetizers to helping run the holes, it’s truly a family affair!

Over the years, the event has continued to grow. What began with attendees from Yorkville and Oswego has now expanded to include golfers from Aurora, Geneva, and Elgin. The outing welcomes women of all ages! Guests can expect a fun-filled day featuring 9-hole golf, delicious food, raffles, a silent auction, and creative games and challenges at various holes. Last year, the Mutual Ground’s Development team had the pleasure of attending and collectively chose the slingshot challenge as their favorite!

One of Debbie’s favorite moments each year is watching the golf carts take off at the start of the event—a powerful reminder of the community's support and the impact their efforts are making.

We are deeply grateful to Debbie, Jane, and Joeanne for their time, passion, and ongoing commitment to making the Girls Just Want to Have Fun Golf Outing a success. Their continued support has helped Mutual Ground provide vital services to individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, and substance use. Beyond raising funds, their event has created a ripple effect of awareness, community connection, and hope—reminding survivors and individuals impacted by substance use that they are not alone.
