International Volunteer Day
Every year on December 5th , those come together to celebrate International Volunteer Day, which was founded by the United Nations Volunteers Programme in 1985. This day is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of volunteers around the world. The idea behind this day represents and highlights the power of volunteerism in promoting community resilience and togetherness, and honoring their contributions.
Our volunteers at Mutual Ground dedicate much of their time to promoting awareness surrounding domestic violence, sexual violence and substance use. Our volunteers accomplish this by participating in fundraisers and other community events, whether that be within our agency or in the community. Our volunteers also work directly with survivors as emergency advocates, child care advocates, and hotline advocates. Our volunteers are essential for connecting survivors to Mutual Ground services, additional resources, and providing emotional support to those in need. We as an agency applaud our volunteers for the time that they dedicate to Mutual Ground.
Volunteering transcends borders, cultures, and languages, bringing together individuals in a shared commitment to making a difference. From supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence at Mutual Ground, volunteers play a crucial role in addressing these changes and making a difference. Their selfless acts not only provide immediate assistance but also inspire long-term change and development in communities worldwide. Volunteers are an irreplaceable element of non-profit organizations, and Mutual Ground appreciates everything that our volunteers do.
On International Volunteer Day, let’s take a moment to appreciate and celebrate all of the volunteers who dedicate their time, skills, and energy to create a better world. Whether you’re an experienced volunteer or just beginning your path to volunteering, remember that every effort counts. Together, we can build stronger, more resilient communities and pave the way for a brighter future for all.
